About Talai Mannar Lighthouse
It is located on Mannar Island, about 30 kilometers away from the main city of Mannar. It was built in 1915. It is attached to the Thalaimannaram ferry and was once a terminus for a ferry service to India, however, a cyclone in 1964 destroyed the terminal, and the route ended. Today, what remains as a connection to India is the Adam's Bridge with limestone piles disappearing under the water from Mannar Island to Pamban Island in India.
