Explore Uva Province

Uva Province sits where the central highlands begin to fall toward Sri Lanka's eastern and southern dry zones. Badulla District includes Ella, Haputale, tea estates, waterfalls and famous railway scenery. Monaragala District is lower, warmer and more spacious, with archaeological sites, forests and routes toward major wildlife regions.

The province is ideal for active travellers who still want relaxed mountain-town evenings. Hiking, train journeys and viewpoints dominate many itineraries, but leaving the busiest hubs reveals villages, temples and lesser-visited valleys that give Uva a broader identity than Ella alone.
