About The Alms Hall
Abayagiriya Dana shalawa or the alms hall is situated close to the jewel place on the right side of the road towards the Abayagiriya Maha Dagaba.this could be identified with the huge stone " Bath Oruwa " or the rice boat. This is the largest alms hall found in Sri Lanka. Two stone boats can be seen towards the left corner of the square alms hall of Abayagiriya. The larger one be feet long is identified as the rice boat. the other smaller stone boat about 12 feet long is considered to have been used for serving curries.
