About Stupa - Vijayaramaya
Vijayaramaya archaeological site belonging to the Abayagiri Mahayana Monastery has been identified as a Pabbatha Vihara-arama complex. The complex was first noted in 1896 and no attention given for over 100 years.Special thanks go to Archaeological Department for establishing a project in 2014 to study and protect the complex. The study has discovered several ruins so far in the Vijayarama archaeological reserve.
