About Polgolla Dam
Polgolla Watapuluwa Dam popularly known as The Polgolla Dam built across the Mahaweli River connect communities of Polgolla and Watapuluwa Housing Scheme Kandy. Major task of this dam is to increase the volume of water to be transferred to the hydroelectric plant located 5 miles north Ukuwela power station. Polgolla Ukuwela tunnel & the power station is an underground irrigation canal in the Central Province and it�s height is 452 meters. Polgolla Ukuwela tunnel is located in Uyanwatta village on the opposite side of Watapuluwa Housing Scheme closer proximity near Polgolla dam.
