About Barandi Kovila
Barandi Kovil (also spelled as Berendi Kovil) is said to have been built by King Rajasinghe I (1581-1593 AD) during his reign of Sitawaka Kingdom. This might have been done at the behest of Arittakivendu Perumal, a Hindu and a learned astrologer, who the king appointed as his advisor.
