About Sri Dalada viharaya - Madukanda
This place is situated by the Vavniya Horopothana road, near Vavniya town. This was built according to Mahavihara monastic plan and the Stupa and Image House are the main buildings while ruins of several other buildings can also be found. According to the folklore, this is the birth-place of Nandimitra. Also, the image house was temporarily used as the inaugural temple of the tooth.
