About Matale Watagoda Ella Falls
The 18m high Watagoda Falls, for a time, was also known as both Pusella and Kadu Ella, which is located in Watagoda village, Matale District. The Watagoda Kurundu Ella Falls is situated above this fall. The fall is sustained by Nonakanuwa Oya (Tank) situated in the Matale�s West Estate. The falls watercourse finally flows to Ambanganga River. The milieu surrounding the fall is a natural herbarium. In retrospect, according to an elderly villager, the area was known as �Makule Meda Kanda�, but due to the reason of this village being ringed by mountains, later its name was changed to �Watagoda�. The Viharaya too, was formally known as �Elle V
